Kashechkin return to Astana in Vuelta pending
Team awaiting cycling jerseys UCI confirmation of transfer

Andrey Kashechkin’s return to the Astana team is still pending approval of the transfer from Lampre-ISD by the UCI, Cyclingnews learned cycling clothing from a source inside the team.

The rider from Kazakhstan has been named as riding the Vuelta a Espana for the squad, but as of today he has yet to officially become a part of the Astana team.

“Kashechkin hasn’tcycling jerseys team signed yet but it might be [final] within two days,” a source familiar with the situation said.

“Kashechkin will ride the Vuelta only of the UCI confirms his transfer on time. The previous leader for the race was Frederik Kessiakoff.”

Mario Scirea, cycling jerseys team Liquigas-Cannondale’s directeur sportif, confirms his protégé won’t chase a place in GC. “We have got Vicenzo Nibali for that purpose,” he told Cyclingnews. “In the mountains, we expect to see young riders like Eros Capecchi and Damiano Caruso. So Peter will fight for stage victories.”

Despite his young cycling jerseys long sleeve age, Sagan already has seven wins at the WordTour level in his palmares: two stages in the 2010 Paris-Nice, two in this year’s Tour of Romandie, two in the Tour of Poland with the overall victory as the cream at the top of the cake.

Should Kashechkin be cycling jerseys long sleeve allowed to start, he would share leadership in the race with Kessiakoff.

Kashechkin made his comeback from a two-year suspension for a 2007 blood doping case with the Lampre team in 2010. He last rode with Astana in 2006 and 2007, and in that time won stages of Paris-Nice, the Vuelta a Espana and led the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré for two days and took third overall.

In 2007, Kashechkin was targeted by the UCI for an out-of-competition control which came up positive for an illegal blood transfusion. The test followed news that his then-teammate Alexander Vinokourov had also been declared positive for blood doping in the 2007 Tour de France.

Kashechkin vigorously defended himself against the allegations, even going so far as claiming his human rights had been violated – a case which was dismissed by a Belgian court.

The Kazakhstan federation refused to suspend the rider, but the UCI was able to keep him out of competition for two years. Kashechkin appealed the sanction to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but lost.

The Tour of Poland’s cycling jerseys winner, Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale), plans to race the Vuelta a Espana which starts on August 20 in Benindorm, officially with low-key ambitions. “I will go without any pressure, and not for the general classification,” Sagan said after the Tour of Poland’s final stage in Krakow.

In only his second season as a professional, Sagan, 21, will compete in his first Grand Tour.

“Tranquillo” is the cycling clothing Liquigas-Cannondale staff’s motto when they speak about the young Slovak rider.

At the Vuelta, Scirea thinks Sagan can do well in sprints. “Especially in uphill finishes, like in the Tour of Poland’s fourth stage. Peter is explosive, with characteristics similar to Philippe Gilbert or Edvald Boasson Hagen.”

Liquigas-Cannondale’s directeur sportif wouldn’t reveal any clear plan for Sagan. “We’ll take the Vuelta day by day. We are always very careful with him because he’s very young and like Liquigas cycling jerseys. The race will be important also for his experience.”

Depending on his condition after three weeks of racing at the Vuelta, Sagan might take part in the Tour of Lombardy later in the fall. “But he’s strong now in early August and nothing grants he’ll be the same in early October,” Scirea said.

At the Tour of Poland, Liquigas-Cannondale (cycling jerseys set) led the peloton in the last three stages, both for Sagan’s support and Vuelta preparation. Nibali himself was part of the sprint lead-out in Krakow.

“It’s very good,” Scirea said. “Nibali worked for Sagan at the Tour of Poland, Sagan will work for Nibali at the Vuelta. Our priority at Liquigas-Canondale is to have a team working as a team…”

Mark Cavendish has expressed cycling jerseys his disappointed with the news that his HTC-Highroad team will cease to operate come the end of the season. The Isle of Man sprinter was already linked with a transfer with his contract ending this year and a number of suitors making approaches.

The news of the team’s demise was confirmed on Thursday, bringing an end to a team that had won over 480 races in its brief but prolific Wholesale cycling clothing history.

“I am obviously very disappointed that HTC Highroad will no longer be a team at the end of this season,” Cavendish posted on his official website
cheap cycling jerseys team.

“I am hugely indebted and incredibly grateful to my teammates and all the staff for their support over the last 5 years and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.”

Cavendish signed cheap cycling jerseys long sleeve for Telekom as a fully fledged professional in 2007 and the squad became as Highroad within a year after Telekom abruptly ended their sponsorship. It was the following year when Cavendish caught the sport’s eye with a breakthrough win at Scheldeprijs but within a month he had gone from rough diamond to pure gold, wining two stages of the Giro and four at the Tour de France. Stapleton looked to secure his services with a new contract after the Tour and Cavendish signed a deal that ran until 2010, with an option of a third year.

More success, primarily in grand tours, followed but in 2010 cracks appeared to surface between the rider and the team’s management. The Manxman told the press at the Commonwealth Games that he was frustrated by the team’s inability or unwillingness to offer him a new contract, despite winning multiple stages in the Tour that year.

He told the press: “I’ve got great family, great friends, great teammates. It’s nice. People around me appreciate when it’s like that. I’m not sure if my team does. Not my team as a whole, but the manager. I’ve not been offered a new contract yet – I don’t know why that is. and i like this bicycle jersey

“I’m committed to a contract I signed a few years ago, [but] there’s been no goodwill, no bonuses, nothing. I feel kind of abused for what I’ve achieved of Wholesale cycling jersey. After the Tour's inaugural outing in 2009, when a field of 80 women lined up for three stages and Australia's Rochelle Gilmore took out overall honours, the race already has growing international credibility, and potential to become one of the leading races on the world cycling circuit given the expansion of the event for this 2011 edition. ”

Following the Games Cavendish turned up the ratchet to new levels pointing the figure squarely at the team’s hierarchy for failing to secure more funds.

“There are a couple of people whose job it is to get new sponsors and it’s frustrating when they can’t and we suffer for it. I’m just frustrated because I’ve been massively underpaid this year and next because for some reason we can’t get more sponsors,” Cavendish told Britain’s Observer newspaper following the Commonwealth Games.

Speculation mounted within the press that the relationship between Stapleton and Cavendish had become strained during the last 18 months. However part of the issue may have lay in the fact that Cavendish is rumoured to have thought that the optional third year on his contract was negotiable between him and his team. However the option and power lay solely with Stapleton. Suzuki/Trek's Rebecca Wiasak trails Sulzberger in the NRS rankings and will be keen to close the gap. The Canberra-based former middle distance runner and triathlete took out the last-up event, the Tour of Geelong and should perform well over the similar parcours. Wiasak will enjoy great support and perhaps even competition, in the form of teammate Allison Rice, Australian under 19 individual time trial champion.

In June the Daily Mail claimed that Cavendish was set to sign a deal with Team Sky (bicycle clothing) for £1.5 million a year, doubling his current salary. Both rider and HTC dismissed the claims and during this year’s Tour Stapleton sat down with his leader to explore the possibilities of Cavendish staying with the team in the hope his name would help convince potential new sponsors to back the team. However any talks they had came to nought and Cavendish crucially revealed last week – before news of HTC’s demise- that he had already decided on his future for 2012.

He reaffirmed those sentiments on his website.

“A number of teams have expressed interest in me riding for them in 2012. I have now made a decision I am happy with and will be in a position to discuss my intentions once everything has been finalised.”
